Met Gala: Love Hate Relationship

Nope, this is not an Effie Trinket ensemble, it's Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou. This is more along the lines of something I would expect January Jones to pull out, but it was a surprise from Elizabeth who has been going uber glam and gorgeous for every red carpet this year. Because this is the Met, I sort of get it, but that still doesn't make this pretty.
Pretty would be Diane Kruger in what may shock you as my favorite dress of the night.  I can't stop going back to this photo and loving the blending of casual and formal. Again, with the feathers, but somehow it still captures me. It is also very rare that we see her with long blonde extensions and somehow it makes her even more lovely than usual.
Beyonce also wanted to be daring, but combining feathers with mesh and lace is way too much. This is fug central.
Love Marion Cotillard in Dior. This dress is magical.

I love DVFs slick liquid sequin dresses, but we've been seeing them on the red carpet since January and I really dislike this silhouette on Lea Michele. Especially with the sequined shoes and this hair that makes her a total bobblehead.
Talk about a living Barbie doll! Love Leslie Bibb's over the top glamour in Posen.
Jessica Chastain FIRE YOUR STYLIST ALREADY in LV.
Chloe Sevigny being her weird self in Miu Miu.
Love Rooney Mara in lace Givenchy. She is still her goth self, but with lighter hair and makeup, plus the lace gives this a softer feel. Beautiful!
Kate Bosworth sort of ruined her custom Prada feather dress by only spray tanning her legs. This dress also makes me think of Snuffleupagus.
She's landing on a lot of worst dressed lists, but I loved Lana Del Rey in Joseph Altuzarra, even with the cape. She looks like a movie star.  Also loved Ivanka Trump's intricate Peter Pilotto gown. Amy's photobomb is also rad.
I'd love to hear opinions on Gwyneth's dress. I'm pretty sure I don't like it, but I falter on that.
Definitely do not like Kristen Stewart's completely hideous Balenciaga dress. I really think she wants to be the next Chloe Sevigny.  Nobody puts this on and thinks "how appropriate for the Met Gala" or "so elegant for fashion's biggest night out!".  Claire Danes also disappointed me in a dress by J.Mendel who I almost always love.

Kristen really went all out didn't she? Her dress looks like someone raided Arseneo Hall's closet circa 1980 something!

Elizabeth's dress is so strange even for it being such an artistic event... it reminds me of those pictures of little girls over the air vents blowing their skirts up... hehe

Beyonce just wanted to show off her post-baby goodies! :)

Diane Kruger was my favorite of the night for sure. That dress and her look is amazing.

Beyonce pisses me off. Just awful. There goes my deep seeded hatred of all things her. But come on.. just no.

Two out of three are NOT working but I agree, I LOVED Diane's dress! It was oddly mesmerizing!

I loved looking through all the looks from the Met Ball. I loved the canary yellow dress January Jones wore and the glitzy gowns worn by Cameron Diaz, Lana Del Ray and Karolina Kurkova.
