Deep Thoughts with DON

Today's theme song is Monica's track Don't Take It Personal. The lyrics running through my head are:

Just one of them days that a girl goes through
When I'm angry inside, don't want to take it out on you
Just one of them things; don't take it personal
I just want to be all alone
so stay the eff out of my way or I'll dagger eye you to death.

I may have altered that last lyric especially for the all-male senior team I just skyped with who asked if the trip I'm planning will be amazing. Please. I only plan one kind of trip and it's not a folk museum walk.

Monica's stylist did a great job of incorporating the most overplayed R&B looks of the era: ribbed turtleneck, vest, newsboy cap, Prince blouse, poncho big enough to hide a concealed weapon for that whack boyfriend who took the battery out of his Startac phone when you called too much. Ya know.

Met Gala review to follow, but some TV thoughts before then.
  • Does anybody else scream at their tv that Jason Hoppy should run, not walk, away from the idea of working for his wife? I truly don't know how they can be thinking this is a great plan when they are fighting almost constantly already. Get through the remodel, get the business settled, get the marriage in a good place, then consider. Please don't become a reality couple statistic.
  • I used find myself on the side of specific people in the RHOAnywhere shows. Now watching OC and NJ, I find I am pretty turned off by all of them. Scratch that, OC I despise all of them...except maybe the new lady because I'm still enjoying a fresh character. The rest are repellent and I really want to climb through my TV like a prettier version of The Ring girl and hug Brianna because homegirl seems so lost right now.
  • Thanks to an episode of American Dad and the novel Divergent, I'm learning I am not alone in my intense fear of moths. Yes, everybody still laughs at it, but apparently there are others. I may form a Mottephobia club (yep, that's the technical term) that meets in a sterile, daytime environment with secure screens on the windows and newly cleaned light fixtures. If you are wondering, I do have another phobia and it is regarding certain textures. It is profound and ridiculous, but I thank my friends who are aware and do kind things like covering fuzzy car seats with towels for me or not brushing against me while walking in corduroy or fleece.
  • Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding is the best show on television. Watching Kim attempt to use a can opener is the greatest thing I saw happen in the last week. Don't miss it when you need a light moment. And don't we all. Play that song one more time with me.
  • If you told my childhood self that all the female leads (save Andrea, but she wouldn't care) of 90210 would have reality shows in 2012, I would have asked what a reality show was, then been really excited. The reality of that reality is Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty's shows depressingly reveal what I already expected: Jennie is bland and boring, Shannen is batshiz and not in a I want to laugh at your silliness but more in a I'm really scared I'll see you on Snapped next season way. Tori, you're cool.
All for now,
D.O.N.

OMG thank you so much for liking "Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding". Sweet Lord I love that show, there is something so insanely charming about her and Kroy (did I actually just say that). I thought I was losing it, as in "Why do I love this show so much?" I'm so glad I'm not alone!

OMG so much to say in response to today's post! I swear we are sisters from another mister!
1. I LOVED my Monica CD circa 1995 and I rocked ribbed turtlenecks and flannel.
2. I scream at Jason all the time. I called a divorce a while back for reasons related to her fame/business exploding/etc. Sorry, I think that's where this is going.
3. I want to hug Brianna too. So sad.
4. Don't be Tardy for the Wedding is ahmazing! Seriously, who knew KZ would have a hit show. And duh her in-laws weren't going to be happy about their 26 year old fathering her children/marrying her.
5. Love the 90210 reference! So funny!

Love the blog!

So many things to say...
-I'm praying that Jason doesn't start working for Bethenny! Their marriage seems rocky already, and this will surely end it!
- I had hopes that Jennie Garth's show would be my new obsession, but she is such a snooze! I haven't seen Shannen's yet, but I've never really been a fan of hers.
-I hate RHOA, so I haven't given Kim's show a chance, but it sounds pretty funny! I'll have to give it a shot.
