Celebs Day Off: NicRic, Jessica, Katherine, Hilary

Let's get random, it's Friday! Here's some celebs out and about on their day-to-day routine for a change.  Nicole Richie kicked off her 30th birthday party with lunch at Cecconi's, one of my favorite spots in LA. Come to think of it, I spent my birthday there last year and am just remembering that. Every opportunity to pick a business lunch, I pretty much pick this joint.  Katherine Heigl is almost a worse offender than Mischa and Kiki in the "stars who should never dress themselves" category because I think she is trying to pull of the Reese Witherspoon causal chic mom look - "mommy drinks", remember? - but instead, it's reading as "Can you BELIEVE this coat was on sale? Or that I still fit in these pants from high school? Or that my hairdresser gave me such a great new cut after I forgot to pay last time?" It's not working at all.

 Vanessa Hudgens lies in the Kiki/Mischa camp of thinking this is edgy and hip when it is just unfortunate. Fortunate indeed is Zoe Saldana who manages to almost always pull off casual cool. 

 Ali Larter is the mom version of Vanessa Hudgens in a decade. She'll have a toned down boho look like this that is much more acceptable. 

 New moms Jessica Alba and Mel B are back to work and rapidly shrinking.

Whew, I'm back in Los Angeles after a business trip to SF where I left my dogs in the care of my parents for the next two months (insert tears and loneliness in my apartment last night). I will be traveling so much in the upcoming weeks that it only makes sense to have them wait for me up north for our Thanksgiving reunion.  They seem to be getting by just fine based on this pic from mom today:

We've dubbed the BBQ "Pride Rock" because Cholula likes to sit there and "survey her land". Tamale is the Robin to her Batman, my little follower.

So let's talk about other ladies busy on the job. Bar Rafaeli and Beyonce are both at work promoting fragrances. Bar looks lovely per usual, Beyonce looks a little like she stepped off stage in that sparkling number.

 Rose Byrne looks pretty miserable at a party celebrating her magazine cover for Gotham. Kim Kardashian really ought to know better than hoops + animal print + thigh high boots. Does this mean we will see another season of OTK boots? I'm over it! 

 Charlize Theron, Leighton Meester, Rashida Jones, and Olivia Wilde all punched in their cards at the HTC party. Do you like Leighton's new hair, all sleek and fringed out?

Lea Michele attended a Michael Kors benefit in a cute little pink dress. Her bangs gotta go though. And Carrie Underwood was all smiles at the Ella Awards.
