Dunzo: Joe and Ashley

Here's a formula for you: if you gush about your significant other in a magazine article, chances are that you will be dunzo right around when it is published.  Joe Jonas is experiencing that phenomenon as he and Ashley Greene announce their split.  She is in New York today and was photographed hailing a cab with her dad.
An unrelated question for singers: I loved the Les Mis concert special on PBS but could not get over how Nick Jonas looked pained every time he sang, while everybody else seemed able to emote with their face while singing. Is this something that is hard to learn?
