So similar they could be sisters, Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly wisely choose polar opposite looks for the red carpet premiere of The Roommate in SoHo. Leighton wore a pre-Fall 2011 Michael Kors dress that is an excellent compromise of her out-of-the-box tendencies in the cut and leather materials while reigning it in with basic black. Minka went soft, feminine, and relaxed, which works well to identify her as the victim of the film against Leighton's stark and dark creepy SWF villian. If you've ever had a really bad roommate, and I definitely have, this movie may give you an overload of the heebie jeebies.
Meanwhile back on the Gossip Girl set, Blake Lively bundles up in a patchwork trench for a scene. That coat doesn't seem very Serena to me...

i am loving both Leighton and Kate B's leather cut-out choice. in fact, no one was hideous on the red carpet...except for maybe the girl from the Office. ew.
