When I heard about California's "cash for clunkers" program for refrigerators, I knew I had to act fast. I am slowly replacing the white appliances in my kitchen for stainless steel, leading up to an overall makeover for the cabinets and floor. I was nervous about shopping and buying an appliance without the advice of my parents. Funny how they call me when buying technology - that's definitely something I feel secure in purchasing myself.
The measurements were trickier than I thought. My fridge was smaller than it seemed and I needed something that fit with the limited depth, height, and width, so my choices included only counter-depth fridges, which was fine except they were smaller and much more expensive than their full-sized counterparts. I also insisted upon an in-door water dispenser because I have to drink 16 doctor prescribed glasses of water daily for health reasons and this definitely makes it easier. So here is my old fridge, complete with my magnetic whiteboard calendar.
And...
Here's my new fridge! I had planned on purchasing an LG fridge, but decided that top of the line equipment doesn't make sense for a condo I plan to live in for awhile, but not forever. I was dead set on not getting a french door fridge, but changed my mind after assessing the space available. This fridge is a Samsung. No white board calendar on the front because it is NOT magnetic, who knew? I have it on the side now which is magnetic. You can see that there are some funky sized door shelves, but I have stocked these pretty well. Those metal bars on the right fold down into what I thought was an oddly small wine rack. When I put my requisite emergency bottle of Veuve on there (I strongly believe a hostess should have champagne on hand for any surprise cause for celebration), it immediately fell to the kitchen floor! Thankfully, there was no shattering, but I can imagine the explosion when I pop that baby open. There is a wine holder on the right interior of the fridge where my champers now rests safely.
Here are the freezer drawers. They hold much more than I guessed and the dividers are adjustable, which allowed me to separate the bottom drawer into meat/poultry and fruit, and the top into veggies and nuts/baking items (I keep choc chips, toffee chips, butterscotch chips and sticks of butter on reserve for baking). I may give you a cribs style shot another time showing my fully stocked fridge.
Good luck to all those working on slow home renovations like me. Thankfully I don't have a ton to do, but this year has been really productive, with the installation of new carpeting throughout the condo and a new stainless steel faucet installed thanks to my dear handy buddy Danny.

I like the new fridge:) Reminds me of this past Fall when we moved out of my apartment into the new house. My fridge at the apartment was old. In fact, it wasn't even white...beige 80s I think. ha:)
yay! Congrats on your new fridge!
My mother bought a Samsung fridge very simular to this about a year ago. The thing that sold her, was the lights inside the fridge.
Since you're remodeling I think now is a good time to start a home/organization blog. Just sayin!
