Soundbites: Sam Lufti

Sam Lufti talked to US Weekly in an attempt to smear Britney's parents, but he just comes off looking like a total ass. Read for yourself:

"Oh boy, her family is crazy! It's funny because that's what the doctors say when they meet the family. They always come back and say, 'You know, [her problems] are inherited, right? It's just so sad. It's shared equally from both of her parents. [I don't] trust anything that her family says? Not a g----n thing."

He states that this is "at least the fourth intervention" her family has staged (that's a GOOD thing, they care!). He said, "They show up to the house like hillbillies, texting me. I find out that they're outside, and they go, 'You better let me in the gate, you ass.' So I go, to Britney, 'Your parents are here, let them come in and yell at you and scream at you. If anything else goes on, I'll throw you in my car and take you out of here.' She said, 'OK, fine, baby.' I let them in. Instead of going to see how Britney is, they come bouncing through the doors. They scream at me, 'Why the f---k are you talking to Barbara Walters?' I swear to God that's all they were saying. The dad pushed me in the chest and said, 'Get the f-k out of here. The dad gave up and then the mom tried to talk to her, but Lynne was like, 'I gotta get my beauty sleep, I gotta get my nails done, I gotta do my hair.' It was just so sick. We made the mom stay." LIAR!!!

Sam states that Britney's condition is a "mixed state bipolar" (simultaneous mania and depression) which she has had for "roughly five years."

The Fight For Brit Brit

After an emergency court hearing today, Jamie Spears and his ex-wife Lynne Spears have been granted temporary conservatorship over their daughter, Britney, who is currently under psychiatric evaluation at an LA hospital. This potentially gives her parents, who are openly fighting with her "manager" Sam Lufti, the ability to restrict and limit Britney's visitors and the right to employ security guards to protect her. Her parents also have temporary custody over her financial assets, including the right to secure her residence, change the locks, and evict the people living there (that would be you, Sam). They also were granted the opportunity to prosecute any civil harassment restraining orders. The court confirmed that Sam is the "subject of a civil restraining order."

Sam's response, "I object to this. Britney is fully capable of handling her own finances. Her doctors are capable of handling her health care. You'd think in a time like this, the family would be at the hospital taking care of their daughter, rather than fighting for her money. How sad."

You'd think he'd be in the hospital, too, if he really was so passionate. Go Team Parents!

Househunting

Ben and Jen together? Miraculous! Here they are checking out potential homes in Venice, CA. I can't picture them outside of Brentwood...they, along with Reese Witherspoon, just embody Brentwood to me. Venice is embodied by Matt Stone (creator of South Park). Well, him and countless methheads playing the bongos. Just not the right spot for them.

Rehab: Eva Mendes

Actress Eva Mendes is currently checked into Utah's Cirque Lodge. Her rep confirmed that she has been there for several weeks, but would not state what her addiction is. She said, "Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support. Out of respect for Eva's privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details."

So the premiere of The Eye was rescheduled for last night and I didn't bother trying to go again. Really I was only going the first time to see this little one and her bump (and to see if Cash Warren was attractive in person), but I was over it. She looks great though. I mean, her dress is a scrolldown mess, but her hair is hot as is her engagement ring.

Justin Chambers aka Dr. Karev checked into the same hospital as Brit Brit on Monday, but checked out yesterday. His rep states that it was for help with a sleep disorder.

Bonk Goes LC

Josh Kelley isn't the only celebrity to celebrate their birthday at Katsuya. Lauren Conrad rang in her 22nd with a bunch of girlfriends at the restaurant last night. The Hills cameras were there to catch it all. But it wasn’t all play for the reality TV star. Lo and Whitney were there (no sign of Brody) for sushi and to toast Lauren, who drank watermelon-cucumber mojitos. Looks like she had a few too many! The Weinstein Company has picked up rights to Woody Allen's new flick titled Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The film follows two Americans vacationing in Barcelona, one of whom (ScarJo) gets involved with a man and his looney ex-wife (Bardem and Mothface).

Of all the ridiculous stories connocted by the media, this one is ridiculous. They say Katie Holmes was at Joan's on Third yesterday to have a meatloaf sandwich. Absurd!

Fool's Gold Premiere

Kate Hudson and everybody else nearly blew away at last night's premiere of Fool's Gold. Matthew McConaughey seems to have cleaned up his act, chopping his locks and suiting up for the event with his baby's mama by his side. If that's what pregnant looks like, sign me up!

Brit Brit Back in the Hospital

Once again, Britney Spears has been hospitalized for a 72-hour psychiatric evalutation. After spending the day with Adnan, Brit Brit returned home. Her mother, in town to reportedly begin an intervention which was delayed by Britney's refusal to participate, was back at the house. Also there, Alli Sims and Sam Lufti, who stated that Britney went willingly, that she knew something was wrong. Britney has reportedly been prescribed medication to deal with psychological issues, rumored to stem from a bipolar disorder. An ambulence and police escort were pre-arranged to escort Britney safely to the hospital. Her father visited her later at the hospital.

24's Mary Lynn Rajskub, 36, is pregnant with her first child. She and her boyfriend Matthew Rolph, 27, joked that this baby was a result of the writer's strike.
