Alright, Let's Deal with This First

As planned, Brit Brit opened the MTV VMAs last night with her new single "Gimme More." Looking incredibly uncomfortable, Britney didn't give much more than a rehearsal quality performance. The word is that during the pre-show run throughs, Britney heard Sarah Silverman's monologue calling her children "adorable mistakes" and wanted out of the show, but was contractually obligated to perform. Sarah was told not to include the part about Britney, but did so anyways. Even if Sarah hit a low blow making fun of SPF and JJF, it was still Britney's chance to leave everybody talking about her comeback and not the comments.

Her hair was a mess, the outfit ridiculous, but, for once, she let somebody do her makeup (even if she did wear those stupid blue contacts). And, while she's not in her 21-year-old shape, she really did look like she's been working towards her old self...at least physically.

I got TONS of text messages last night, starting as soon as her performance hit the east coast and continuing through the night. While it could have been worse, it was really sad to see somebody who has always been so confident on the stage to look so uncomfortable and lost.
