In the Slammer: Paris

As expected, Paris Hilton turned herself in to the regional detetion facility in Lynwood (south of LA) to serve at least 23 days late last night (just before midnight). She issued a statement reading, "I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. During the past few weeks I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes. This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence."

Once at jail, she was forced to surrender her belongings and undergo a strip search before donning an orange jumpsuit. She will be staying in a solo cell and will be kept away from the "general population," spending 23 hours a day in her 12-by-8-foot cell and having one hour for rec time. She will also be taking her meals in her cell.
