DON, I am curious. Is it difficult to gain entry to clubs like Hyde and Area? Is there a certain dress code or look than one should aquire for such an outing? What time do people go? I live back East and have no plans to go, but I am interested in how it works.
It can be difficult. Generally you need to get on a promoter's list and rsvp or "know somebody", which is how I am lucky enough to get in these places. Attire is important and the earlier you get there, the easier it is to get in. Even if you are on a list, you have to wait most of the time. For example, for Paris' cd launch at Privilege, we probably got there at 10 and waited almost an hour before getting in. Most clubs also charge between $20-$30 just to walk in the doors. But it's worth it!!
