Hilary Duff Shops for Thanksgiving

Hilary Duff is off the Gossip Girl set and back in Los Angeles. She did some shopping at Whole Foods with her mom yesterday in preparation for Thanksgiving.

Natalie Portman has such a beautiful, eternally youthful presence. It's been great seeing her back on the circuit and she seems to be working a great blue phase. Last night she attended the New York City Ballet, and earlier this week she was at a screening of her dramatic new flick Brothers in a gorgeous Jason Wu dress from his Spring 2010 collection. Looking forward to more photo ops as she continues to plug her film - hopefully some with Jake!

Eddie Cibrian enjoyed lunch with his girlfriend LeAnn Rimes at Kushiya yesterday in Tarzana, CA. He's so devoted to his new lady, that he is filing a $1 million lawsuit against a tabloid claiming he's cheated on LeAnn. His rep stated, " “Since the separation from his wife, Eddie Cibrian has not had a romantic or sexual relationship with any woman other than Ms. Rimes."

Claire Danes, 30, looked beyond fabulous at a screening last night of her new movie. When paired with Zac Efron, 22, the two made a very pretty pair. I've been searching all over to figure out who she is wearing...will keep looking, but you fashionistas let me know if you're on top of this!

Katherine Heigl attended a baby shower at her parent's house in Los Angeles last night for her sister. She spent time holding her sister's baby, as well as her own daughter, Naleigh, who turns one today. Katherine, who turns 31 tomorrow, said of her daughter, “She was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign. I realized just recently that I basically forfeited my birthday for the rest of my life.”

Britney Spears is wrapping up her Circus tour in Australia, but on her day off, did a little shopping with her assistant and bodyguards. Meanwhile, her nearly identical sons Sean (in pink) and Jayden, spent some time at the playground.

All That Shimmers: AMA Fashion Report

High drama fashion continues through November and into the America Music Awards. The current trend of hard rockin' couture was favored by Rihanna, Fergie, and Leona Lewis. But the real trend of the night was shimmery metalics - from chain metal to gold beading, the red carpet looked like a line-up of OPI at the salon. Pretty, sparkly little things they were, but most also added some edge to their ensembles, like Kristen Bell's bare midriff, Fergie's extra front leg slit, and Kate Hudson's plunging and barely there neckline. Two noteable variations were Shakira and Alicia Keys, both of whom sparkled, but chose bold colors for their dresses rather than the metalics of choice.

Even Heidi Klum, the tease, ended up walking the runway after claiming she wouldn't - just 6 weeks after giving birth to her daughter. The ladies partied after the show with the Black Eyed Peas and the dress code was as sexy, tight, or as little as possible.

GQ through a bash in Hollywood, as did US Weekly. So many parties, so many decisions! Team 90210 and Kim Kardashian showed up to the GQ bash, while KCav and Audrina Patridge opted for US Weekly. To be fair, Audrina split her night at that party and at the Samsung event.

Last night was the New York premiere of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, and Olivia Palermo were all at the screening. Speaking of Olivia, yesterday her co-star on The City, Whitney Port, had some less than complementary words about her, saying, "She’s good at creating drama out of nothing. Olivia is a socialite and she can be difficult, cold and aloof, but I like to think that I balance that out. She’s for real. She acts like everyone’s the enemy and no matter how hard you try, it’s difficult to get through to her or become her friend. She thinks she is above everyone else."

Day Old News Turns 4!

Hey friends!

About this time four years ago, I was working in San Francisco and met up with friends for lunch. One shared some celebrity gossip, which I joked was "day old news." At this time, I was sending out a weekly Wednesday email with all the latest gossip to my friends, who started forwarding it around. The list of people who received it grew exponentially and I would hear from people from far away who had the email forwarded to them and they wanted on my distribution list. My friend said the once weekly email wasn't enough to stay caught up, so I returned to my office and created a blog - Day Old News was born. I've had a blast putting out the best gossip stories and my thoughts on the celebrity lifestyle. I've also met so many people, both IRL and online, through DON, which is probably my favorite part of it.

Today I'm back in San Francisco, working out of our office here for a few days, and feeling very nostaligic. Thanks so much for reading, commenting, emailing, and tweeting with me!
